Flow
Arusha to Tarangire. Full-day game drive along the river.
Transfer to the Ngorongoro rim with an afternoon rim walk and a Maasai boma visit.
Early crater descent for a full day on the floor, black rhino, lion, elephant and flamingo, then on towards the Serengeti with an Olduvai Gorge stop.
Arrive in the first migration sector. Afternoon game drive with a guide in radio contact with the mobile camp network.
Full day following the herds, in Jan–Mar the Ndutu calving grounds, where roughly 8,000 wildebeest are born each day at the peak and the predator density is the highest of the year. Optional dawn balloon flight.
Second full day in the sector, cheetah on the short-grass plains, lion prides shadowing the herds, and spotted hyena clans.
Transfer by road or short charter to the second migration sector following the herds' movement. Afternoon game drive.
Full day in the second sector, in Jul–Oct the Mara River crossings at Kogatende, where the herds mass on the bank before plunging through crocodile-held water.
Second full day in the second sector, a long photographic day at the crossing points or on the plains, with a bush breakfast and a picnic lunch in the field.
Morning game drive, then the flight or drive back to Arusha for onward connections.
