Southern Circuit: Nyerere & Ruaha — 9 Days

Arrival Dar es Salaam. Afternoon at the National Museum and the Village Museum, or the Kariakoo market. Overnight.

Light-aircraft flight to Nyerere National Park, at over 30,000 km² one of the largest protected areas in Africa. Afternoon game drive along the Rufiji River.

Nyerere — a morning boat safari on the Rufiji among hippo, crocodile and the Stiegler's Gorge channels, and an afternoon game drive for wild dog, which the park holds in unusually high numbers.

Nyerere — a morning walking safari with an armed guide, an afternoon fly-camping excursion or a second boat safari, and a night drive where the concession permits.

Light-aircraft flight west to Ruaha National Park. Afternoon game drive along the Great Ruaha River.

Ruaha — full day of game drives. Ruaha sits at the transition between East and Southern African ecosystems and holds both greater and lesser kudu, sable and roan, plus some of the largest lion prides in Africa and around ten per cent of the world's remaining lion population within the wider landscape.

Second Ruaha day — a morning walking safari, an afternoon photographic drive among the baobabs, and sundowners on a rocky kopje.

Morning game drive, then the flight back to Dar es Salaam. Afternoon at leisure or a Bongoyo Island excursion. Overnight.

Morning at leisure, then international departure, or connect to Zanzibar.
