A completely different Zimbabwe: pine forests, mountain peaks over 2,500m, and country lodges that feel more Scottish highlands than African bush. Good escape from the heat after a Victoria Falls or Hwange trip, and a quietly excellent stop for hiking, trout fishing, and golf.

Practical information

Mutare is the regional hub (about 3 hours drive from Harare). Plan 2-3 nights. Best weather April-October. Bring warm layers: mountain mornings drop below 10°C even in summer.
