Transfer to the mooring and board the houseboat, with a briefing on the boat, the tender and safety on the water. The boat moves off to its first overnight position in the afternoon, and the first sundowner is taken from the deck as the light goes.
A full day on the water. The tender boat works the shoreline and the inlets where game comes down to drink, which puts you at eye level with elephant, buffalo and waterbuck. Fishing gear is available, and the middle of the day is for shade and the deck.
A second full day, usually moving to a different stretch of shoreline so the game viewing is not a repeat. Early and late tender runs take the best light, with birdlife along the drowned treeline and crocodile on the banks between them.
An early run in the tender if the schedule allows, then breakfast aboard, disembarkation at the mooring and your onward transfer. Expect to leave slower than you arrived, which is rather the point of a houseboat.
