Itinerary
Fly Maun into the inner Okavango Delta by light aircraft, the flight itself, over channels, hippo trails and floating islands, is one of the great scenic transfers in Africa. Transfer to a water camp. Afternoon mokoro (dugout canoe) excursion, poled by a local guide through papyrus channels at eye level with reed frogs and water lilies.
Full day in the Delta, a morning walking safari on a palm island with an armed guide, tracking on foot among elephant and red lechwe; boat cruise in the afternoon along the permanent channels for sitatunga, Pel's fishing owl and malachite kingfisher.
Second full day, a dawn mokoro session and a longer motorboat exploration to a distant island, with a bush lunch and an afternoon game drive if the camp has a dry-land concession.
Morning mokoro or walk, brunch, then light-aircraft flight to Maun for onward connections.
